University of Houston
David Bassity serves as the Associate Athletics Director for Communications as the University of Houston. In his current role, Bassity has oversight of the communications, graphic design and video departments along with Houston’s digital platforms. In addition to his strategic communications role, Bassity also serves as a sport administrator for the Houston Women’s Golf program.
Under his leadership, the Houston Athletics Communications office received the 2012 and 2015 FWAA Super 11 awards, presented annually to the nation’s top media relations operations. Houston’s 2014 BBVA Compass Bowl media guide was named the Best Postseason Guide in the nation by CoSIDA and @UHCougarFB was ranked the No. 2 college football twitter account in 2015 by Sports Illustrated.
Bassity came to Houston after spending five seasons with the Oklahoma Football program. During that time, he helped promote a Sooner team that appeared in five bowls, including three BCS bowls, and the 2008 national championship game, and received seven Best in the Nation CoSIDA awards for his sports’ publications during his time at OU.
Prior to joining OU, he served as coordinator for public relations on the 2006-07 Denny’s Professional Bowlers Association Tour.
Bassity earned his bachelor’s degree in public relations from the University of Oklahoma in 2005. He lives in Houston with his wife, Alison.
