Atlantic Coast Conference
McBurney is entering his 20th year with the Atlantic Coast Conference overseeing video production and distribution in the league office. Hired to impact ACC awareness in local and national sports programming, McBurney has been involved in developing distribution methods to meet the ever expanding role that video can have in spreading the message of the conference’s member institutions.
The Advanced Media department is responsible for disseminating daily content received from the league institutions through its Aspera Faspex platform, known as the ACC Video Clip Service. The platform (AVCS) currently has nearly 300 subscribers made up of digital, local and national sports outlets. Additionally, McBurney has been heavily involved in the league’s live streaming efforts over the past 7 years, producing many of the conference’s championship events not covered by the ACC’s television partners. McBurney has implemented 2 AVID edit stations for post-production and recently has upgraded the production workflow to include AVID Interplay and Telestream’s Vantage product. Archiving and asset management workflows are also in place to handle the league office’s video archives.
Before his move to the ACC, McBurney served as Executive Producer of sports productions at WGHP-TV in High Point, North Carolina. He spent 11 years at WGHP and prior to that completed undergraduate studies in Radio, Television and Film at Northwestern University and received a Masters of Fine Arts in Broadcasting/Cinema from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro.
